Transworld Presents_Skate & Create 2010
Transworld Skateboarding 2010 SKATE & CREATE : ADIDAS Light, Shape, Color Directed by Matt Irving from fellowskate on Vimeo.
Etnies Skate & Create 2010 from Nun Chuck on Vimeo.
Transworld Skateboarding 2010 SKATE & CREATE : FALLEN Lose Your Illusion Directed by Mike Gilbert from fellowskate on Vimeo.
HOW THIS WORKS:
The four teams are made up of a total of six skaters—four pros and two ams.
Each team is given nine days in a warehouse with the same set of obstacles.
Each team is allowed one art director on site.
Each team is assigned one TWS photographer to shoot a feature article for the magazine.
Each team is allowed a film crew to produce a video for skateboarding.com.
The final photo and video product is judged by the TWS edit staff (minus S&C coordinators Skin Phillips and Josh Brooks) on the level of skating, creativity, the use of obstacles, and overall image and video quality.
The winner gets the cover of the magazine and will have a spot reserved in Skate & Create 2011.

Oryon x TRON: Legacy x Adidas
Upon hearing ‘Tron’, many readers will remember the Chappelle’s Show character who rode a hot hand in dice to become the world’s richest man. But for Sci-Fi fans and older folks, TRON instantly conjures images of some of the earliest computer graphics to appear in a Hollywood film. With TRON: Legacy on the way, Disney created a capsule with Adidas, including the Heat Check basketball sneaker with an innovative call out to the movies’ signature aesthetic. Created with technology from Oryon Tech, the adidas Heat Check TS pictured above glows thanks to some crazy-innovative polyurethane lamps. These aren’t your average 3M reflective kicks here, folks, and none of that LA Gear silliness. And while these might not see much time on the NBA hardwood this winter, it’s undeniably interesting to contemplate a future for footwear that includes luminescent materials like Oryon’s ELastolite. Playboy Launches a SFW Website

Playboy has luanched a SFW (Safe For Work) site called The Smoking Jacket. This site will allow all the bored guys (or chicks) at work to get in their eye candy for the day without the boss getting upset. As if we needed more distractions in the office. Pretty rad nonetheless.

Viva la Revolucion: A Dialogue with the Urban Landscape
For the first time in history, the majority of the world’s population lives in urban communities. The urban setting and its corresponding lifestyle are major sources of inspiration in contemporary culture. This is an historic revolution in visual culture, in which the codes and icons of the everyday—found on the streets in graffiti, signage, waste, tattoos, advertising, and graphic design—have been appropriated and used as an integral part of contemporary art-making. The urban landscape inspires and serves as both a platform for innovation and a vehicle for expression for many artists. The city itself, its buildings, vehicles, people, and advertisements, are not only the surface where the art is applied. The city fuels the practice.
A multifaceted exhibition that explores the dialogue between artists and the urban landscape, Viva la Revolución: A Dialogue with the Urban Landscape features works both in the Museum’s galleries as well as at public sites throughout downtown San Diego.
The exhibition includes a diverse range of 20 artists from 10 countries that are linked together by how their work addresses urban issues — Akay (Sweden), Banksy (U.K.), Blu (Italy), Mark Bradford (U.S.), William Cordova (U.S.), Date Farmers (U.S.), Stephan Doitschinoff [CALMA] (Brazil), Dr. Lakra (Mexico), Dzine (Puerto Rico), David Ellis (U.S.), FAILE (Canada), Shepard Fairey (U.S.), Invader (France), JR (France), Barry McGee (U.S.), Ryan McGinness (U.S.), Moris (Mexico), Os Gemeos (Brazil), Swoon (U.S.), and Vhils (Portugal).
Viva la Revolución: A Dialogue with the Urban Landscape is curated by guest curator Pedro Alonzo and MCASD Associate Curator Lucía Sanromán.
